Viagra May Treat Pulmonary Fibrosis
The little blue pill may be the key to treating cardiovascular problems. Researchers are looking at the possibility that Viagra could be used to treat pulmonary fibrosis. That’s a condition where lung tissue is scarred and oxygen cannot get into the blood. The research is very preliminary, but doctors at UCLA think Viagra may help people with the condition breath better.
Dr. David Zisman, UCLA: “Improving the blood flow through the vessels that feed the lungs, and by doing that, we’re improving the overall circulation through the lungs and the oxygenation improves.”
Viagra is mainly used for sexual dysfunction, but its impact on blood flow may provide other benefits. Early studies suggest it may help patients recover faster from a heart attack or a stroke.
